The beginning of Pilates Haus and online reformer workouts has a unique starting off point, the closing of my first business! I closed my brick and mortar studio (The Pilates Underground) on the North-shore of Chicago during COVID-19. I had a beautiful, small group reformer studio, filled with beautiful people! I never would have dreamed that 2 years of pouring everything I had into TPU, that it would close so abruptly. We closed up shop in June, and then moved across the country to New Braunfels, TX.
I was left with a lot of time. Time to grieve what I felt I lost. Time to reflect on all the aspects of my first studio that I loved and cherished, and time to reflect on ways I could show up and contribute more and in more meaningful ways. I had time to find joy in movement again for myself and time to dream up ways I could share that joy with the Pilates and wellness community around me.
I dreamed of a place that felt like home. Where anyone that entered felt, welcomed, safe, accepted and knew that they belonged. Not just in our space but in their body!
I wrote down everything I value most about sharing Pilates with others and that list is now my Pilates Manifesto. Looking at that list on paper, I immediately knew that this was what I wanted my new business to based off of. Joy, simplicity, and connection. And with that Pilates Haus was born!
Pilates Manifesto...
Joy and simplicity belong in your fitness routine. Guilt does not. Movement that feels good and brings you joy is sustainable. Pilates is a partnership. You know how to move your body. We are here to help you tap deeper into what you already know! (Not to tell you everything you don't know). You don’t need to be screamed at to have the support you are looking for. We can be technical without making your practice overwhelming. The way we practice moving together should enhance your everyday life and other ways of movement you enjoy. "Pilates is nuanced but it doesn’t have to be so serious. It’s okay to laugh during a session =)"
Whether you are joining us for the first time, are a long time Pilates fan, a former TPU enthusiast or just Pilates curious, you belong here. Welcome home!
You can book Pilates Reformer Sessions at our New Braunfels, TX location, or virtual private Pilates sessions all online here.
